Pumpkin market

Our pumpkin assortment includes over 250 varieties. We, therefore, offer one of the most varied pumpkin markets in Switzerland. The pumpkins grow in our fields in and around Bottmingen. We sell them from the farm. Come by and let yourself be enchanted by the variety, the colors, and the shapes.

For all varieties, you will find tips on how to prepare them. We also have delicious recipes for many pumpkins, which you can take home from the farm or download here.

The pumpkin market takes place daily from the end of August to mid-November from 8 am to 8 pm.

Pumpkin festival

For twenty years we have successfully run our Pumpkin Festival. It was a project of the heart that gave us great pleasure. But putting on such a festival in the most severe season was also a great burden. Due to the Corona pandemic, we had to cancel the Pumpkin Festival two years in a row. This made us realize what a relief this was. It is with a heavy heart that we have decided not to hold the Pumpkin Festival in the future. We thank all the visitors who have been there.

Recipes

Pumpkins are incredibly versatile. We want to do justice to this. That's why you'll find a usage note (e.g. suitable for stuffing) with every pumpkin on our pumpkin market. We are always testing new pumpkin dishes and trying to invent new recipes. You can find our favorite recipes on this „FLYER“

Assortment

Every year we produce about 100 tons of pumpkins. In total, we grow over 250 different varieties. We have steadily expanded our assortment over the last 25 years. Through our close cooperation with KCB seeds, we are constantly discovering new varieties. Before we include them in our assortment, we grow them in small quantities and test them in terms of quality, appearance, taste, size, cultivation, and shelf life. In addition, the new varieties must optimally complement our assortment. It is important to us that we have as much variety as possible. This diverse assortment is our pride and it gives us great pleasure to constantly expand it.

Pumpkin history

We are considered pioneers in Switzerland when it comes to pumpkins. Toni Mathis was already fascinated by this crop as a child. That's why he decided to try growing pumpkins in 1991. At that time, only a few varieties were available in Switzerland. Toni decided on the Yellow Centner. He planted the pumpkins in the pasture behind our old farm. The yield was enormous, but unfortunately, the market was non-existent. You couldn't even give them away. So the following year we also tried ornamental pumpkins. These sold very well (on the farm and in our flower field). One year after our attempt, Michel Brancucci approached us. He wanted to find an association to make the pumpkin plant known in Switzerland. Elsbeth was enthusiastic and immediately joined as a founding member. Through this association, we came into contact with new varieties. So our range grew steadily and the market joined in. Today, it is impossible to imagine Switzerland without pumpkins, whether as food or as a decorative object.

KCB-Samen GmbH

We have been buying our pumpkin seeds from KCB-Samen since the beginning. They offer over 700 different varieties from all over the world. In 2013, we took over the company due to the death of the founder and owner, Michel Brancucci (for details see About us ). This has made the collaboration even closer. We can optimally contribute our know-how from our pumpkin cultivation. In the webshop at www.kcb-samen.ch you will find a large variety of pumpkin seeds. Take a look, maybe you will soon be planting your pumpkins in your garden.
